[edit] How to upload images and embed them in your wiki

[edit] Uploading

Image:wiki_toolbar.jpg

On the course wiki there is a link in the toolbox section labeled Upload file. That link will take you to the interface shown below.

From here you can browse to any file on your computer and upload it. I labeled my file Cornbread_thumbnail.jpg in the Destination filename and added the attribution information in the Summary form field. After clicking the Upload file button, you will be redirected to the upload summary page shown below.

This page confirms the new file name and gives you some useful information on versions and where the file is used on the wiki.

Note: The heading on this summary page has removed the underscores in the file name. The wiki code seems to ignore underscores and the link works with or without it.

[edit] Embedding

Now to use this image in your wiki page you will need to use the [[Image:filename.jpg]] code. To see this at work, edit the code on this page and see how I've done it. I hope this helps!

You can find additional instructions about how to add a frame and caption to your image, or how to position your image on the page, using these help resources:

Note that currently the ability to resize an image or create a thumbnail of the image is not enabled on this wiki. I'll let you know if/when that gets fixed!
