- Originally from the St. Louis area, I moved to Panama City Beach, Florida in 2003 to join my husband (then fiancé) who works as an Army Dive Instructor at the Navy Coastal Systems Station. A new graduate from the University of Illinois with a B.A. in English, I worked temporarily as a legal secretary as I teetered between attending law school and pursuing a teaching certification in secondary education. After a year of working for attorneys, I decided that a career in law was definitely NOT for me despite my parents’ efforts to convince me otherwise. Instead, I confirmed my parents’ (both high school teachers) worst fears and chose to pursue a career as a high school English teacher.
- After four years of teaching Reading and English at Bay High School, I still love my work and feel that I made the right choice. Honestly, I think my job gets better and better each year. Just this semester, I became the new school library media specialist, and I am really enjoying the fact that I can devote all of my time to fostering students’ literacy and love for reading. So far, I have learned a great deal about media production in this course and I can't wait to try it all out in my new job. I especially look forward to learning how to produce videos and plan to create one featuring all that’s currently happening in our school library for our website.

- Other than reading and teaching, my interests include the following:
- Traveling
- Dancing
- Exercising
- Hitting the beach
- Relaxing with my husband and 5 pampered pets (2 cats and 3 dogs).
- Another hobby that has cropped up recently, although I hate to admit it, is playing Rock Band with my husband or trying to beat him at Guitar Hero. It truly is amazing…before this year I never was much of a gamer.
