Talk:Learning 2.0 and Public Libraries
From LIS5313
Hi, Carolyn! I agree that you chose an interesting topic. It will be interesting to find what kind of a difference this training has made in the workplace. You mentioned interviews with a number of different people. If you recorded this and compiled it into a sort of audio presentation with a musical introduction, it might work well for your media component.

Hey Carolyn,
It definitely seems as thought you have a clear sight on where you're going to gather your information. Your media aspect should provide a nice touch to the overall wiki report. I think your subject in the research of Learning 2.0 and Public Libraries should be interesting. You're definitely headed in the right direction, although I do think that the literature review potion can be placed in the references section for the wiki report. I also think that the abstract section can be broken up into two sections as well. This is something I need to work on personally in my own wiki repot but the information presented should be able to be read very easily, this is primarily what I'm being told. So if you keep that in mind you should be fine. Other than that, you seem as though you're on the right path. Great job!

Hi Carolyn,
It will definitely be interesting to see the outcome of your report. In theory alot of the concepts work but the true challenge is putting them into practice. The libraries can implement all the new technology, however its success comes down to the willigness of the staff to participate. The difference in the training costs and time to complete is amazing, 9 years down to 3 months. My only suggestions to you would be to fix some of the links that you included. The first Learning 2.0 doesn't work for me and the sno-isl.org does not bring up any relevant page. So you may want to check that out.

Hi Carolyn,
I agree with Kevin's comments so I am not going to repeat them. Also, you mention the abbreviation PLCMC a couple of times. I think the first time you mention it you should include what it stands for in parentheses. This will help those who read your report but are not from your area.
Also, in the "Learning 2.0" section you need to correct "This interest..." and change it to "This interests..." And Personnel Communication should be changed to Personal Communication.
Finally, since you are conducting three interviews a good idea might be to create subsections for the discussion of each interview and related information. This will keep things organized for the reader.
Feel free to send me an email at mar04g@fsu.edu once you have completed your draft. I will be willing to take a second look at your report.
Best Wishes,

Your report is full of useful information and I particularly liked the cost effective aspects of the 23 point program. The time frame of nine years that this staff training could have taken would have probably made it useless. We all know that change occurs much more rapidly...to stay ahead of the curve we need all the tools available we can get. Great slide in your presentatiion. Dale B 01:37, 4 December 2007 (MST)
[edit] expand.
Carolyn, Looks like things are coming along.
I'd suggest that you expand the "learning 2.0" description section. it's a little short now.
I assume that you are going to fleshout the "Review of lit" section by summarizing and assessing the texts you have linked. Good collection of lit, it should provide sufficient information. But don;t forget to include those links down at the bottom in the "references" section.
Be sure to move the interviews to the bottom, or to another page with a link.
good luck kevin o
Hi Carolyn. I'm glad you have taken on the "Library 2.0" movement that is sweeping the globe. I think it is fantastic that you have three interviews and would second Maria's comment to create a different section for each one. I'm sure you have more information than you need but if not I would point you towards two presentations given on SirsidynixInstitute's site: one given by Helene Blowers and the other by Australian librarians who undertook the 2.0 challenge. If you need an example of another library system undergoing the training, my library system is currently in week 6. Here's the main blog. Good luck on the rest of your report! --Matthew R 12:05, 8 December 2007 (MST)
Carolyn, I have been reminding people of two things in particular. 1. Our names on our reports. This is especially important when people have opened multiple reports in the tabs of their browsers. It is hard to keep them straight! 2. The notes section. Also, I have to say that I too am very impressed that you conducted three interviews! Kudos to you!! I look forward to reading your final report - especially the information about the Sno-Isle library system. I have been thinking about applying for jobs with them.
