[edit] Summary

Title: Lucy

Image:Picture goes here.jpg

Description: I'm going to tell the story about our local daycare ghost. The story is very sad about how the ghost ended up with us. The purpose is mainly to ensure this important part of the daycare's history is not forgotten. At the same time moralistically it gives us the perfect reason for the current daycare children not to be alone in the daycare especially late at night. I'm still undecided but right now I'm considering using a first person point of view as it makes it more personal. This matters to me because before I didn't believe in any kind of afterlife and it made me evaluate my thinking.

[edit] Media Assets

Hmmm......the primary image, video, and audio that I want to use? I intend to use most of them directly from the daycare. There are a few that I know I won't be able to use. Such as I'm not using the real name and pictures of the little girl. Most of the pictures will be from around the daycare. I have already asked a parent if I can use their daughter as the ghost and they said yes. The child is very excited about the chance to be the daycare ghost. Some of the audio well I'm attempting to get it from off line while the rest of it will be made from scratch. We're planning on taping Savannah as the ghost sometime this week. Many of the things I want to portray are going to be done literal, such as the incident with the gate and the one with the water. The rest, well we'll have to wait and see. So far nothing has been done to manipulate them but I plan on manipulating some pictures so it looks like Savannah is a ghost. At one point there is a section where I want to talk about the time one of the workers heard a voice say, "Will you play with me?" when that section of the daycare was shut down for the night and had no kids. I was hoping to tape one of the kids saying those words while showing the picture.

Provide some specific examples of why and how you use particular images and sounds to convey meaning. - not done yet so haven't done.

Most of the primary images will be of the daycare. I'm considering if I should shot the whole thing in black and white or should I leave it in color. I haven't decided as of yet.

[edit] Pacing, Rhythm, and Juxtaposition

I do have a bit of a narration in there and I am going to try and convey a calm even tone. I also want to find some appropriate mood music to play quietly in the back ground, something slightly sad. I want the pacing to be a bit on the slower side. I also would like to recall the incidents in the way that they occurred to my knowledge at the daycare. So that should cover the sequence and pacing. As for the rhythm, I am totally unsure about that part right now.

[edit] Narration, Dialogue, and Text

I would like to do narration in this. But thus far I'm unsure how much of the story I can tell within the time frame. We usually tell the kids this story during Halloween and it can take over 30 minutes. More to come

Narration

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Lucy. One day coming home from daycare, there was an accident that killed her. We thought that we would never hear her contagious laughter again. We were wrong.

The incidents began shortly after her death. They began with small things, cold spots in rooms where the air conditioner was off, the feeling of being watched.

From there it progressed to more disturbing things. On the playground, the middle swing would begin rocking back and forth by itself. A small child was heard running up and down the halls giggling after closing. TVs and water faucets would turn on by themselves, orbs and even a ghostly figure have been seen in photos.

Now people have begun to see a little girl, playing late at night on the playground. She always asks, “Will you play with me?” before she disappears around a corner.

Will you ever find rest Lucy?

The only text that I have are the opening and credits.

[edit] Reflection

  • March 18, 2008 - I'm feeling torn about how I should deal with this topic. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea after all? I've been wondering about the original child's parents. I never got to meet them as the incident occurred long before I worked at the daycare. I mean if I had a kid would I want to think that some people thought her spirit was wondering the hallways late at night. She doesn't seem sad, more like mischievous or goodness help us all- bored. Nothing threatening about her at all in all honesty. To be honest it was a while after I had a few ghost encounters before I even knew that the original story was based on fact. I had thought it was all just a simple campfire tale. Maybe I should leave out the background on us finding out about the child and that she died on her way home? That way it would remain just a simple story.

[edit] Draft Media

I have been looking for some background music and I think I finally found it!

[1] It's called Dreams. The Old Nursery Mix and it's made by Loveshadow. It's kinda spooky. The only thing I'm worried about is if I cna get it low enough to be spooky with my narraton on top.

[2] This is the sound I used for when I talked about the swing moving by itself.

[3] These are the footsteps that I intend to use when we talk about running and giggling down the hall. GOing to mix it with child giggling.

[4] This is the laugh I'm going to mix with the footsteps

Speaking of which my brother is changing my format over for me *hangs head in shame* and it should be up later on tonight.

the portion of video I was done with. I need suggestions with pictures. PLEASE!

[edit] Copyrighted Materials

I have the right to use Savannah S in this as both parents and the child gave me permission to do so. Hopefully everything else will be all mine.
