Summary

Title: Your Title Goes Here

Image: Provide a representative thumbnail image from your video on the upper right side of this section. For your initial draft treatment, select an image or screen shot that you think you might use in the video. If you insert the code for the image directly underneath your title, it should be placed on the correct part of the page. Note: Alexia created instructions on uploading an image to the wiki here.

Description: Provide a short description (approximately 100 words) of your digital story, including the purpose and point of view of the story. Explain why you chose this story or why it matters to you. Update this description as needed as your project develops.

Media Assets

In a few sentences, describe the primary image, video, and audio assets that you use in your video, and how you are using them to convey meaning. Questions to answer include: Where are your assets from? What do they depict or represent (literally)? What have you done to alter or manipulate them? How do your different uses of images and sounds contribute to the meaning of the video? Provide some specific examples of why and how you use particular images and sounds to convey meaning. For your initial draft treatment, describe the primary image, video, and audio assets that you are considering using and where you are planning to look for them, or how you are planning to shoot, record, or manipulate them. Also say how you hope your use of images and sounds will contribute to the meaning of the video.

Pacing, Rhythm, and Juxtaposition

In a few sentences, describe the pacing and rhythm of the video, and how you are using pacing and rhythm to convey meaning. Also describe how the juxtaposition and sequence of images and sounds conveys meaning. Questions to answer might include: What is the frequency and pacing of your edits? How does the pacing of the images match (or depart from) the pacing of the audio? How does the pacing and rhythm of the video create meaning? What is the sequence of images, and how does the sequence and juxtaposition of images convey meaning? What is the sequence of sounds, and how does the sequence and juxtaposition of sounds convey meaning? How does the style of the image track match (or depart from) the audio track? How do the sequence and juxtaposition of images and sounds create meaning? For your initial draft treatment, describe any initial ideas you have for how you might use pacing, rhythm, sequence, and/or juxtaposition to contribute to the meaning of the video.

Narration, Dialogue, and Text

If you have voice over narration, dialogue, and/or text in the video, please write it here. For your initial draft treatment, say if and how you will use narration, dialogue, and/or text, and provide a written draft of it here. Remember, you must use no more than 150 words. If you will not use narration or dialogue, explain what techniques you will use to convey your story other than relying on narration or dialogue. If you will use text, explain how the text will be used in combination with other forms of imagery and sound.

Reflection

In a few sentences, provide your most recent thoughts and reflections about your video (or draft of the video) and the production process itself. Let us know if and how your video communicates what you intended, how you think it could be developed or improved, and what you think works well. Let us know what kind of feedback, comments, or other forms of assistance would be most useful to you at this point. Give us any contextual information you want about your experience making the video. For your initial draft treatment, provide a short reflection on the ideas you’ve developed for the video so far, and let us know what kind of feedback and assistance would be most useful to you now.

Draft Media

Provide a bulleted list of links here to drafts of your video, excerpts from your video, and/or media assets used in your video, that are ready for comments and feedback. List the most recent drafts, excerpts, or media assets first. Also state what kind of feedback would be most useful to you. For your initial draft treatment, provide a few links to any important media assets that you are using in your video (or considering using). Also provide a brief description of the media.

Copyrighted Materials

Any use of copyrighted materials should be justified in writing here when you turn in your video. For example, you could state: “I received permission to use this material from…,” or "I think I can make a fair use claim to use _____ material because…”.
